Shabbat Davening Class - Starts Wednesday, September 9, 2026

Join Hazzan Barbara Barnett as she leads a Shabbat Davening class.

Whether you want to follow along with confidence, sing every niggun with the kahal, or step up to lead Kabbalat Shabbat, Shacharit, Torah service or Musaf yourself — this class builds the skills for it. We'll work through Friday night and Shabbat morning davening piece by piece: what each prayer means, how the service is structured, and the melodies and nusach that bring it to life. Along the way, aspiring leaders get regular hands-on practice leading sections in a supportive room.

Class Prerequisite: Basic Hebrew reading fluency

This class is free for Beth Shalom members and $180 for non-members.

This class is open to adults and post benei mitzvah teens.

Registration is required. To register, complete the online form below.

Upcoming Hazzan Barbara Barnett Classes

Yad Squad, Unit 2: January 2027

Back by popular demand, Hazzan Barbara Barnett will teach Yad Squad. Yad Squad is our 9-week deep dive into the trope (cantillation) system. This class is free for Beth Shalom members and $180 for non-members. Some Hebrew reading fluency is required (decoding words). Classes start January 2027. Watch for more details to follow.

Weekday Davening, Unit 3: March 2027

Weekday tefillah is where Jewish prayer starts - leaner, faster-paced, and for many of us, less familiar than Shabbat. This 9-week class covers Ma'ariv, Shacharit and Minhah as they're said during the week. This class is free for Beth Shalom members and $180 for non-members. Classes start March 2027. Watch for more details to follow.
