06/05/20: Shabbat Shalom

The information below comes from our Shabbat Bulletin. Currently we have transitioned our voice to the web, making all materials easily available for our members.   The information below would have been published in our Shabbat Bulletin. For the time being, since we are not creating the Bulletin in paper form, we have transitioned this information to our website, for ease of access while keeping our distance from one another.  We look forward to publishing again in the future.

OUR CONGREGATIONAL FAMILY

THIS WEEK’S TORAH READING

I've Always Wondered

The Rabbi’s Assistant answers questions that someone might be too shy to ask. Click here to read her blog!

Do You Know Your Hebrew Name? Please Write It Down!

Do you know your Hebrew Name? Can you spell it in Hebrew? Do you know the names of your relatives, of those before you and those younger than you? For whom were you named? Do you spell your name the same way? Do you need help with this? We are here. Please collect your family’s full Hebrew names and keep them somewhere safe. We can keep them for you, as well.

Better now than searching years later. As we spend more time with family at home and calling our relatives, we are well situated to do the research.

Your Hebrew name follows the format XXXXXX son/daughter of YYYYYY and ZZZZZZ, where XXXXXX is your given Hebrew name, YYYYYY is your dad’s given name, and ZZZZZZ is your mom’s.

Please email Audrey Glickman, Rabbi’s Assistant, at RabbiAsst@BethShalomPgh.org with your name or with questions about finding your name.

Yahrzeits

The following Yahrzeits will be observed this Shabbat and in the coming week. This list comprises those dear departed for whom there are dedicated plaques in our praying spaces, and those for whom contributions have been made to have their names listed here.
