Join us for this wonderful series with Dr. Ben Sommer of the Jewish Theological Seminary. Jewish identity in the Shema and many other prayers is based on an event that is supposed to have happened more than three thousand years ago: we were liberated from slavery in Egypt.
But were our ancestors and forebears from ancient Israel in fact enslaved there?
Did they really escape that slavery to become a nation?
Professor Sommer will address textual, historical, and archaeological evidence to separate fact from fiction.
