Service Times

  • Youth Tefillah at 5:15 p.m.
  • Evening Shabbat services at 6:00 p.m.
  • Morning ( 8:00 a.m. on Sunday / 7:30 a.m. Monday – Friday)
  • Special Added Service Thursday, August 20, at 9:00 a.m., as Sonia & Theresa Schachter celebrate becoming benot mitzvah
  • Evening (7:00 p.m. Sunday – Thursday / 6:00 p.m. on Friday)
  • Shabbat Services:
    • Candle Lighting:  Aug. 14 at 7:59 p.m. | Aug. 21 at 7:49 p.m.
    • Morning Services: Aug. 15 at 9:30 a.m. | Aug 22 at 9:30 a.m.
    • Minhah: Aug. 15 at 8:05 p.m. | Aug 22 at 7:55 p.m.
    • Ma’ariv: Aug. 15 at 8:35 p.m. | Aug 22 at 8:15 p.m.
    • Havdalah: Aug. 15 at 8:57 p.m |Aug 22 at 8:47 p.m.

  • Lester A. Hamburg Member of the Year Award honors a member who embodies volunteerism, leadership, and a long history of participation within the congregation.
  • Ethel and Bernard M. Halpern Young Leadership Award recognizes a young leader in our congregational family who has set an example of volunteerism and decision-making.
  • Nathan E. Snader Distinguished Service Award rewards a member who has demonstrated exemplary service and dedication to Beth Shalom and the larger Jewish community.
  • Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle Volunteers of the Year Award celebrates a member whose devotion and involvement has positively impacted Beth Shalom and Pgh.’s Jewish community.

Do You Know Your Hebrew Name? Please Write It Down!

Do you know your Hebrew Name? Can you spell it in Hebrew? Do you know the names of your relatives, of those before you and those younger than you? For whom were you named? Do you spell your name the same way? Do you need help with this? We are here. Please collect your family’s full Hebrew names and keep them somewhere safe. We can keep them for you, as well.
 
Better now than searching years later. As we spend more time with family at home and calling our relatives, we are well situated to do the research.
 
Your Hebrew name follows the format XXXXXX son/daughter of YYYYYY and ZZZZZZ, where XXXXXX is your given Hebrew name, YYYYYY is your dad’s given name, and ZZZZZZ is your mom’s.
