Enriching lives through community, lifelong Jewish learning, & spiritual growth!

Judaism teaches reverence for life and respect for our loved ones when they have passed on from this world. Through the religious services of our congregation and the burial grounds of the cemetery, Beth Shalom has always helped and enhanced expressions of tribute and respect for the names and memories of dear departed that have been taken from our midst. Generations of our members and the wider community of Pittsburgh and surrounding towns and communities have always turned to our spiritual leaders and congregational services for comfort at times of sorrow and for remembrance through seasons of renewal.

Clarification on Cement Grave Liner/Vault Purchases

When purchasing a cement grave liner (vault) through the Beth Shalom Cemetery there is no additional charge for what is termed grass matting and lowering device. The cemetery owns the equipment necessary for burial and there has never been a separate charge for the use of the equipment.

When cement grave liners or vaults are purchased through a funeral home for burial in the Beth Shalom Cemetery the funeral home charges for the cement liner/vault, grass matting and lowering device on their Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected. These charges are not a charge from the Beth Shalom Cemetery and are not charges collected by the funeral home for the Beth Shalom Cemetery. These charges are incurred by the funeral home because they purchase the cement grave liner or vault through a Vault company and rent the necessary equipment (grass matting and lowering device) for burial.

The charge to purchase a cement grave liner (vault) through the Beth Shalom Cemetery is currently $1,000.00 and are purchased directly through the cemetery office with no additional charges for grass matting and lowering device.
