Life Cycle Events

Enriching lives through community, lifelong Jewish learning, & spiritual growth

As part of our commitment to maintaining a diverse, multi-generational congregation, we are a full service facility. We would like to be a part of all your simchas and life cycle events, including:

Brit Milah and Baby Naming

At Congregation Beth Shalom, we celebrate our children and value their lives as the future of our synagogue and the Jewish people at large.  Our clergy are available to assist in celebrating your new child through Brit Milah and/or a baby naming ceremony.  It would be our privilege to honor your new baby during our services.  Please allow us to help welcome your child into our congregation.

Please contact our Rabbi’s Assistant at 412-421-2288 ext.112 to make arrangements.

Benei Mitzvah

Becoming a Jewish adult, a bar/bat/benei mitzvah is a primary life-cycle event at age 13 . It is about both celebrating an incredible family milestone and the community rejoicing as we add another adult to our kehillah.

For more information, go to our benei mitzvah page, here.

Weddings

Jewish weddings are probably the most exciting events in all of our traditions. They can be filled with excitement and fun while maintaining a high level of holiness. Beginning with the announcement of intent to marry through the actual ceremony, our clergy can be there with you every step of the way guiding you to make this a happy time.

If you would like to speak with the Rabbi about your upcoming nuptials, please contact our Rabbi’s Assistant at 412-421-2288 ext.112.

Funerals

A funeral is a sacred rite and should have both simplicity and dignity as taught by our Jewish tradition.  The family of the deceased should consult the Rabbi when death occurs. They are encouraged to contact the Rabbi before said event so consoling and comfort can be given. Preplanning is encouraged.

Any questions regarding funeral arrangements and periods of mourning, should be referred to the Rabbi for guidance.

We invite you to host your event here with your Congregation Beth Shalom family.  Please contact the main office at 412.421.2288 to schedule an appointment to discuss with a staff member.
